Intec Micros are a leading stockist of Cisco Excess products. This is hardware that is classified as surplus to Cisco’s distribution channel due to them being unused excess inventory and meant for resale to a select group of excess stockists as a Grade A Refurbished product.

All of the Cisco Excess products we stock are supplied with the exact same commitment that Cisco make to their customers with clean serial numbers and ready for smartnet to be added. We approach the value of the circular economy and sustainability in an ethical manner.

What is Cisco Excess?

As part of the Circular Economy, Cisco want to ensure that they optimise the value of their entire technology portfolio regardless of where it sits in the product lifecycle. Occasionally, Cisco ends up with excess product inventory that still has a useful life, but with limited demand from traditional Authorised Channels. This is why Cisco have created an Excess Product offering where Cisco will sell used, Grade A refurbished products and offer heavy discounts in order to resell these products through a select group of stockists. As a stockist, Intec Micros are able to resell these products within the secondary market as Grade A refurbished but add our own 12 month hardware replacement warranty as standard.

Key Information about Cisco’s Excess Product Offering:

  • All products sourced from Cisco’s Excess inventory are designated with a “-WS” at the end of the part number (formerly known as Cisco Wholesale)
  • All products are excess inventory that have a valid version of the IOS loaded and relicensed by Cisco
  • All products are fully functional and may include minor cosmetic imperfections.
  • All products are eligible for Smart Net Total Care (SNTC) support (subject to Cisco’s SNTC policies)

Excess Products are not to be confused with Cisco Certified Refresh (-RF) products, which are remanufactured and are only available via authorised refurbished partners.

Cisco and the Circular Economy

So what is the circular economy? A circular economy is an alternative to a traditional linear economy (make, use, dispose) in which vendors keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them whilst in use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of each service life. Cisco recognises the importance of the circular economy and the opportunity to maximise scarce resources. Through Cisco’s refresh and excess stock programs this forms an important approach to addressing Cisco’s customer’s budgetary requirements - whilst leveraging the value of the circular economy - hence creating that full circle lifecycle for Cisco products. This creates a number of areas that are of utmost importance to Cisco and hence, maximising initial investments that customers make in Cisco technology.
